Fertility testing
Your doctor may recommend further assessments to complete your medical history. This will help us ensure your treatment plan carefully considers your current health and fertility, and is catered to you and your needs.
Routine fertility tests you can expect
Depending on the medical information your referring GP shares with us, your fertility specialist might recommend the following tests during your initial consultation.
Fertility tests for you & your partner
Physical exam: your physician may perform a routine examination
Blood work: to collect blood samples to determine hormonal levels and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including syphilis, Hepatitis A, B and C, and the HIV (AIDS) viruses, as well as checking for immunization against rubella
Female fertility tests
Pap smears: our medical team will collect vaginal culture from the cervix to test for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and overall cervix health
Medical imaging: to examine your ovaries, fallopian tubes, and endometrial lining
Male fertility tests
Semen analysis: to look at semen volume, sperm concentration, movement, and appearance
Sperm profile: a detailed assessment of the different grades of sperm motility and sperm morphology, and if indicated, anti-sperm antibodies or recovery of motile sperm on sperm preparation
Urology consult: if indicated, an appointment with a urologist for further evaluation and for some, surgical extraction of sperm for IVF/ICSI
